Want To Save Money On Your Dog's Food?

It’s no surprise that the price of goods has increased. The rate of inflation hit a 7% increase in 2021 compared to 3.4% in 2023. And like most people, I have felt this hit every time I look at my bank account. To scale back my spending, I have uncovered cost savings with Amazon Prime.

I know what you may be thinking. What does this have to do with dogs?

Well, if you're like me, you may be cutting costs by making your own dog food and dog treats. Not only do you save money, but you gain personal satisfaction in knowing what's in your dog’s food.

But how can you make quality, pesticide-free, nutrient-rich food without breaking the bank?

I recently discovered that I could be saving money when shopping at Whole Foods Market. Amazon acquired Whole Foods in 2017. And since that time, Prime members can save money while grocery shopping at Whole Foods.

And if you haven’t been utilizing your Prime membership (like me), you may not know about these extra savings at your fingertips.

Whole Foods Market offers both natural and organic food. If you like shopping at companies that make a global impact, Whole Foods sources quality ingredients in a responsible way.

What does responsible-sourcing mean?

  • Sustainably farmed, traceable seafood
  • No antibiotics in meat
  • Over 260 ingredients banned from their stores like: saccharin, aspartame, high-fructose corn syrup

Whole Foods gives back to the environment by:

  • Minimizing food waste and nourishing communities in need
  • Exploring ways to make energy efficient stores through green building and/or solar energy
  • Supporting farmers committed to regenerative agriculture
  • Protecting pollinators

How can you save money?

If you’re already an Amazon Prime member, start shopping at your local Whole Foods Market for savings. Prime members can save an extra 10% off storewide sales. There are also special discounts for Prime members on seasonal favorites, up to 50% off.

To start, download the Whole Foods or Amazon app. This gives you access to the weekly deals at Whole Foods. And if you’re shopping in-store, use the Amazon app to generate your Prime in-store code to use at check-out.

Weekly sales are posted every Tuesday and Friday. This can be helpful for planning meals in advance or last-minute meal preparation.

Using the Amazon App, go to Whole Foods Market, and click "In-Store" to shop weekly specials. Use the in-store code generator to use your Prime member discount at check-out.

I don’t live close to Whole Foods. But if I'm in the area, planning ahead can provide big discounts on food ingredients we use. And any bit of savings now can help us recoup from our extra expenses.

If you’re not an Amazon Prime member, you may want to look into it. There are many benefits to becoming a Prime member, like free one-day shipping on eligible items.

For 2024, Amazon Prime memberships cost $139. There are discounted memberships for students and low-income households.

While costs continue to increase, maximizing discounts can be a great cost-savings. If you’re already an Amazon Prime member, don’t forget to use your Prime discount at Whole Foods. This can lead to substantial savings over the year. And wouldn’t you rather spend your extra money on your dog?
